Abstract

An envelope-framed photo of a ruddy shelduck spotted in east Gainesville. The bird showed up at a pond at the Crane Ranch, and the Cranes donated the photo to the Florida Museum of Natural History (then the Florida State Museum). A note in the envelope hypothesizes the bird escaped, or became established in the area and is living wild despite not being indigenous there.
