Abstract

An oral history interview with Henry T. Janowski. Bureau Chief of the Florida State Department of Health Bureau of Immunization. Mr. Janowski’s career in public health spans 30 years. A graduate of Florida State University, he immediately joined the state’s venereal disease program, and later obtained a master’s in public health at the University of Tennessee. Upon graduation he spent 8 years in epidemiology and in 1983, joined the immunization program. Mr. Janowski discusses the history of immunization in the US and Florida throughout the 20^th century, programs to vaccinate children in the K-12 school system and in college, and the politics and funding that impact immunization programs.
