Abstract
In this interview Samuel Crutchfield, a former Florida commercial fisherman, discusses his decades of experience fishing in the Florida waters, the changes he has seen on the fishing industry and the evolution of laws and regulations governing fishing. Born in 1939 in Fort Meade, Polk County, Florida, Crutchfield recalls spending his childhood fishing with his dad, joining the Coast Guard right out of high school, and his early days of commercial fishing in the 1960s. He concludes with anecdotes about finding abandoned boats, accidents he witnessed and humorous fishing episodes.
