Abstract

Staff at Heritage Village submitted a grant to the Florida Humanities Council in 2002. At the time, Heritage Village hoped to develop an interpretive plan for the structures on site and realized that the archival materials related to historical structures and features had many gaps. James A. Schnur served as a humanities scholar tasked with reviewing archival holdings, compiling accurate information about the owners/occupants of the structures on site, and creating instructional documents that would guide the interpretive plan. This booklet, subdivided by chapters for each notable structure, includes a summary of important information and a detailed narrative. The research Schnur completed also guided revisions to the docent training manuals for these historic structures and the design of signage around the Heritage Village campus. Schnur's research discusses the history and illustrates areas where additional research is necessary.
