Abstract
1923: A crowd of people… in Treasure Island, Florida is a modified pantoum (poem) that frames the Floridian beach as a space often thought of as frozen in time and insulated from grim consequences. The reality of what can happen at the beach, however, imbues the poem’s tone with the weight of the knowledge that even this conceptual slice of veritable paradise must adhere to the rules of the world beyond the shoreline.
