Abstract
This is an oral history interview with William "Bill" Poe, former mayor of Tampa, Florida, who served in that office from 1974 to 1979. Poe describes his childhood, education, and his start in the insurance business. He offers his thoughts on Nick Nuccio, Dick Greco, and some of the other mayors who preceded him. He also explains how he decided to run for mayor, describes the events of his campaign and the election, and discusses a few of the projects undertaken during his administration.
